
We are pleased to introduce Dr. Kevy Simmons to our practice and the community. Dr. Simmons is Director of Pediatric Services at PineCone Vision Center.
He will provide primary pediatric care as well as vision therapy, nonsurgical management of crossed or lazy eyes, infant contact lens fitting, monitoring of pediatric ocular disease, and care of special needs populations.
Dr. Simmons is now accepting new vision therapy patients.
Dr. Kevy Simmons serves as the Director of Pediatric Services and is responsible for the visual function and eye health of all infants, children, and teenagers at PineCone Vision Center. He provides primary pediatric care as well as specialty services which include office-based vision therapy, nonsurgical management of crossed or lazy eyes, infant contact lens fitting, monitoring of pediatric ocular disease, and care of special needs populations. Specific areas of interest include intermittent exotropia, papilledema in children, and an evidence-based approach to functional vision disorders.
Dr. Simmons received his Bachelor’s degree at Seattle Pacific University and went on to Pacific University of Oregon where he received both his Doctorate of Optometry and Master of Education in Visual Function and Learning. Following graduation, he joined a pediatric optometry practice in the Seattle area for additional training and experience in the management of strabismus and amblyopia. After three years there, he moved to Denver to complete a residency program in Pediatric Specialty Care at Children’s Hospital Colorado for advanced training in pediatric ocular disease and genetic syndromes affecting the eye.
Dr. Simmons is a participating provider in the nationwide InfantSEE program in which infants between the ages of 6-12 months receive a comprehensive eye exam free of charge. He is also an active member of the Minnesota Optometric Association and is a candidate for fellowship in the American Academy of Optometry. He has volunteered his services domestically with Remote Area Medical as well as abroad with service trips to Honduras, Guatemala, Costa Rica, and the Philippines.
A native of Boise, Idaho, Dr. Simmons was introduced to the Midwest through his wife, Nancy, who grew up on a dairy farm near Watkins. On his days off he enjoys family time, photography, snow-skiing, and challenging his wife to CrossFit workouts.
Dr. Simmons is now accepting pediatric patients for routine and specialty care.
