What To Expect During Your Eye Exam

During your eye exam, we start by reviewing your eye exam history so we can track any changes to your sight, your lifestyle and medical conditions which might affect your vision. We do this through forms you will fill out, as well as by using the latest advancements in technology to view your eyes in as much detail as currently possible.

You can expect a comprehensive eye exam to last about 1 hour. Your personal eye exam time may vary depending on which specific tests the doctor needs to ensure your eyes receive the best care.

The eye exam may include dilation, which involves special drops placed into your eyes which allow the doctor to fully see and analyze the structure of your eye. Then, you’ll go through visual tests designed to evaluate overall, near, far and peripheral vision.

If you are a brand new patient, please print, fill out and bring with the following forms to your eye exam. These forms are regarding patient privacy.

All patients should bring the following items to their eye exam:

• Your medical insurance card (medical insurance is separate from vision insurance)

• All current glasses, including sunglasses

• Any eyedrops you regularly use

• A list of your medications

Contact lens wearers should be aware of the following:

• If you are a new patient and wear contact lenses, bring in the contact lens packaging or boxes with contact lens brand

• Wear your contact lenses to the exam if you want to update/order contact lenses
